limehome is continuing its exciting expansion by entering its eleventh market in Europe – the Czech Republic!

To learn more about this exciting development, we spoke with Andrea Rother, our Director of Expansion for New Markets.
She shares insights into the motivations behind this expansion and what guests can expect in Prague.

The Golden City has always been on your bucket list but you’ve never made it? Be prepared to get convinced now.

The Golden City

There aren’t many places left in the world where you can actually feel history brushing past you, but Prague is one of them. This city, “Praha” as the locals fondly say, is like walking through a fairytale that had a modern makeover – but kept all the best bits. From the grand Prague Castle (the largest castle complex in the world, no less) to cosy little streets that look like they’ve been plucked right out of a film set, this city has it all. No wonder Prague’s been dubbed the Golden City – the place practically glows with charm.

With such a magical atmosphere, Prague has caught the attention of many, including us at limehome. In the upcoming interview with Andrea Rother, our Director of Expansion for New Markets, we’ll spill the beans on why we couldn’t resist making Prague our latest home away from home.

Andrea, why is the Czech Republic a good choice for expansion?

“The Czech Republic is an exciting place for us to expand! The market is relatively close to the head office in Munich, which brings logistical advantages. Plus, Prague is a vibrant city that’s growing fast and the cost of living and rental prices are still pretty reasonable. Compared to other countries, the regulatory framework here is simpler, as both residential and commercial licences are available. All in all, it’s a perfect fit for limehome and our guests.”

What challenges do you face when entering a new market and how do you prepare for them?

“When we expand into a new country, there are a few important things we need to think about. We have to look at local building permits, tax laws, operating licences and labour laws. Our market analytics team carefully assesses how easy or costly it is to enter that market. We want to be well-prepared so we can handle any challenges and keep everything running smoothly.”

When will the first limehome open in Prague and what special features will there be?

Our new limehome will most likely open its doors at the beginning of December 2024.

The new building is a listed building with a charming inner courtyard. With 49 units ranging from double rooms, studios, single rooms and mezzanine apartments to two 90 m² penthouse apartments, we cater to different groups of guests. The building has already been operating with serviced apartments for five years and fulfills a very high standard.

We will replace the existing FF&E (the totality of all things in a hotel that do not belong to the building itself, but relate to its furnishings like furniture, fixture and equipment) with our limehome design to provide a consistent experience for our guests.

The location is also ideal: just a 7-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, our guests can easily reach Prague’s best sights.”
